பல தசாப்தங்கள் தாண்டியும் மலையக மக்கள் மீதான வறுமை மற்றும் அவர்களின் வாழ்க்கை நிலை பாதாளம் நோக்கியே செல்லுகின்றதேயொழிய எவ்வித முன்னேற்றமும் அடைந்தபாடில்லையென்றுதான் கூற முடியும். மலையக அரசியல்வாதிகள் பெயருக்கு மட்டும்தான் என்று அங்குள்ளவர்கள் விசனம் தெரிவிக்கின்றனர். இம்மக்களின் நிலமையை நாம் தூரத்தில் இருந்து பார்த்தால் உண்மையான நிலமையை அறிய முடியாது. அவர்களின் மத்தியில் சென்று அவர்களோடு அவர்களாக இருக்கும் போது பல சோகக்கதைகள், சொந்தக்கதைகள், கஷ்ட நஷ்டங்கள், வறுமை என்பனவற்றைத் தெட்டத்தெளிவாக விளங்கிக்கொள்ளலாம், நேரடியாகவும் பார்த்தும்கொள்ளலாம்.

කරනච්චාරිගේ රශ්මික විදුශාන් අවුරුදු හයක් වයසැති කුඩා දරුවෙක්. තංගල්ල බෙලිඅත්තපාරේ අංක 75/11 නිවසේ සිටි ඔහු සැන් වෙනදා මෙන් දුව පැන ඇවිදිමින් සෙල්ලම් කරන්නේ නැත. ඒ කවුරුවත් නොසිතූ විරූ අයුරින් ඩෙංගු මාරාන්තිකයා විසින් රශ්ම්කගේ ජිවිතය උදුරා ගොස් ඇති නිසාය. රශ්මිකගේ මේ අකල් මරණය නිසා මුලු ගමම කම්පාවට පත් වී තිබේ.
