Matara Media House combats Domestic and Gender based Violence

Matara Media house tackled the issues of Gender Based Violence and Domestic Violence on the 25th of July, during a forum discussion that was organized to create awareness on the issue. The event took on the expertise of activists and lawyers on the subject, who spoke on a range of issues including the importance of counseling for those who have undergone domestic abuse, and the legal background surrounding domestic abuse and gender based violence.

An important issue that was also discussed was the role of media and journalists in preventing gender based violence and domestic abuse, including sensitivity when reporting.
